Ceramic pigments are used to produce the colors on the porcelain portraits. Because ceramic pigment are made from metal oxides fused under high temperatures, they are the most chemically stable and fade-resistant to the elements of nature and man made pollutants.
The chemical composition of dyes used in paper printed photos are completely different from the ceramic pigments we use. Dye colors on the printed photos use inks from synthetic dyes derived from inorganic chemicals like crude oil. They cannot resist the UV light and will fade with time. But the ceramic pigments used to make the porcelain portraits can resist the UV light and high temperatures. So there might be a difference in the colors based on the different pigments used to derive those colors, especially the most volatile shades of red.
